Sage Hopkins

 

Coach Hopkins attended California State University, Cum Laude, where he earned his BA in English, Minor- Physical Education; also earning an AS in Biology while attending Sierra College.

Coach Hopkins professional career started in 1995 at California State University in Bakersfield taking the position of Asst. Coach for the Men’s Swim Team.  His career also includes West High School where he served as the Head Coach for the Women’s Swim Team as well as Bakersfield Swim Club having the title of Head Coach, Chief Operating Officer.  Eventually, Coach Hopkins found his placed with the De Anza Cupertino Aquatics as the Asst. National Team Coach and the director of both the De Anza Summer Swim Lesson Program and De Anza Lap Swim Program.

His achievements, experience, and accomplishments are long and impressive.

Ø      United Way “From the Heart Award”- recognizing contribution to Kern County Youth

Ø      Placed a swimmer on the USA Swimming National Team, 1998

Ø      Coach of World Ranked Swimmer/National Team Member/WUG Silver Medallist, 1999 (Gabe Woodward, 50M Free, 100M Free)

Ø      Have worked with multiple World Ranked Swimmers and National Team Members (as Assistant National Team Coach with DACA, including National Finalist Erica Liu (1:00.4 – 100 yard Breaststroke/1:10.1 100 M Breast).
