Peter Banks 

         

Peter Banks, the 2000 National Swim Coach of the Year, is currently the full-time coordinator of the new American Club Swimming Division of the American Swimming Coaches Association, based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Coach Banks is continuing to coach part time at KJ SwimAmerica a local swim club in Davie, FL. 

In his nearly 12 years with the Blue Wave Swim Club, Banks guided 25 swimmers to berths in the U.S. nationals, qualified five for the Olympic Trials and helped Bennett win Olympic gold in Atlanta and Sydney, where she also set an Olympic record. Another Blue Wave swimmer, Maritza Correia, won a silver medal at this year's world championships.

Banks' resume also includes stints as the U.S. women's coach for the 2000 short course world championships and assistant women's coach to the Sydney Olympic team.
