Mary Bolich -
Head Women's Swimming Coach
Mary
Bolich recently completed her second season as the Men's & Women's
Swimming Coach at Wesleyan University. Prior to coaching at Wesleyan,
she was the Head Women's Swimming coach at The University of Iowa for
four years. The following are a few of the team's accomplishments from
1996-2000: four 2000 Olympic Trial qualifiers, three NCAA qualifiers,
two All Americans, one Big Ten Champion, 20 team records, and the 2000
University of Iowa Athlete of the Year. Academically, Mary's teams
produced five Academic All Americans, 37 Academic All Big Ten honors,
5 All NESCAC Honors, 2000 University of Iowa Scholar-Athlete of the
year, 2001 Wesleyan Scholar-Athlete of the year, and Wesleyan Women's
team ranked #1 among all Division III schools with their team GPA in
spring 2001.
Before
coaching at Iowa, Mary spent seven years at Penn State as an assistant
women's swimming coach. She also was an instructor in PSU's department
of Exercise & Sport Science. Mary came to Penn State from the
University of California at Berkeley where she was an assistant during
1988-89. Cal finished fifth as a team at the NCAA Championships that
year. From 1986-88, Mary was the assistant swimming coach at the
University of Pittsburgh. The 1987 and 1988 teams won the Big East
Championships. Mary received her B.S. degree in 1984, and Master's
degree from Temple University in 1986.
