Jim Reiser

Jim Reiser founded Northeast Columbia Swimming in 1994, is the club president and sole proprietor.  He holds a M.S. in Physical Education with an emphasis in Motor Learning.  His research focused on the development of age-group competitive swimmers.

While aquiring his master's degree in 1994-1995, Coach Reiser formed the Team NCS, USS program from a small group of summer league swimmers. At that time, the team was the "Bad News Bears" of USS swimming. But like the "Bears", Team NCS has also found its way to the top. Coach Reiser has led Team NCS swimmers to nine National Top 16 Qualifying swims (EIGHT within the past 2 years), three South Carolina state record swims, 37 individual state titles, four state champion relays, and a Southern Sectional individual champion.  In 1999, Coach Reiser was chosen to be the head coach of S.C. Zone "All Star" Team.

Jim Reiser is also a professor of Physical Education at the University of South Carolina where he teaches aquatic and first aid classes for the Department of Physical Education. In 1995, he authored and directed an instructional swimming video which has earned him international recognition. Mr. Reiser has been twice a featured speaker at the National Swim School Association's World Conference. He spoke at the NSSA Conference in Orlando, FL in 1998 and in Nashville, TN in 2000. Coach Reiser has recently completed a new teacher/parent training video titled, "Home Swim School." His video has been endorsed by Ernie Maglishco, author of "Swimming Even Faster" and the only coach to win NCAA National Championships at three different universities; Steve Graves, founder of the National Swim School Association; and Phillip Whitten, Editor-in-Chief of Swimming World Magazine and author of "The Complete Book of Swimming." Swimming World Magazine will feature Coach Reiser's video on its website and his new video will be mass-marketed nationwide.
