The CAM program is designed to prepare the aquatic professional for the duties of managing the total aquatic program for a public or private agency. This national registry and educational program was introduced in October 1992 by Dr. Don VanRossen and Dr. Robert Clayton. Programs have been sponsored by chapters of the American Red Cross, Parks & Recreation Societies, CNCA, U.S. Swimming and the American Swimming Coaches Association. WHY YOU NEED THIS CERTIFICATIONCertified Aquatic Manager certification is the system developed over many years that assures the public and sponsoring agencies that a professional training and a standard of testing has been achieved. The Certified Aquatic Manager is an ASCA sponsored program and is offered to help the coach be more marketable, to expand your career, and continue your professional advancement. HOME STUDY / JOB SITE COURSE MATERIALS Upon registration for the home study course Coaches will receive The Aquatic Managers Handbook and The Aquatic Managers Job Site Survey Guide. The key topics in the Handbook include: Facility Design and Use Programs and Scheduling Lifeguards and Risk Management Finances and Budget Controls Public Safety Education Marketing and Public Safety Maintenance Parameters and Systems Operational Codes and Standards Staffing and Training Office Management Reports and Records Management Forms The Job Site Survey Guide gives the CAM student an instructive tool for completing a comprehensive inventory of their own facility and programs. COURSE FORMAT AND SCHEDULEUpon registration the coach will also receive 5 assignments. These assignments will require the completion of sections of the Job Site Survey and selected readings from the Aquatic Managers Handbook.
