Fort Lauderdale -- Recreonics, Inc., is announcing its Challenge Award which will give five students $1,000 each. Recreonics, Inc., will award five, $1,000 scholarships to SwimAmerica teachers who are attending college, or will be attending college, and meet certain criteria.

Recreonics, Inc., a swimming pool and pool equipment company, has established guidelines for the scholarship selection that are challenging yet achievable for the prospective recipients. The criteria is as follows:

1. Recipients must be accepted to, or currently a student at an accredited institution of higher learning.

2. Recipients must have maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or higher at their collegiate or high school course work.

3. Recipients must have been an active SwimAmerica teacher (coach) for 18 months.

4. Recipients must complete an essay of 1200-1500 words.

5. Recipients must have some activity whereby they volunteer their time to a local community service program.

6. Recipients must submit a letter of recommendation.

7. Recipients must acknowledge that they are free of substance and alcohol abuse and that they do not have any past arrest records.
