Freestyle Balance Slide # 2 - The next step in the process is to get into a "sailboat position". The recovery arm is placed in the front upper quadrent of the stroke cycle, with "elbow in from of the ear" and elbow directly over the body. The swimmer takes six kicks on one side, then uses their hips to initiate rotation as one arm pulls through and we get sailboat position on the other side. This position shifts the body balance forward and makes it "easier" to get the legs and hips to the surface. The head stays low, waterline at the crown of the head. [ Next Video In Series ] |
