Biography:
My name is Steve Bialorucki and I am currently the head coach of the Old Dominion Aquatic
Club in Virginia. I have been in this position for the past five years and previous
to this I was the head coach of East Side swimming in Pensacola, FL. This was a club that
was started from scratch with four swimmers and in a matter of a year had over 80 swimmers
and was highlighted in Swimming World magazine as a club spotlight team. Prior to
East Side I was the head coach of the Cincinnati Pepsi Marlins in Cincinnati, OH.
While in Cincinnati the club was perennial State Champions along with sending an
average of two dozen swimmers to the Junior National Championships and a dozen swimmers to
Senior National Championships each year. During the 1992 season I was able to have six
high school age swimmers in the program achieve Olympic Trail qualifying times. One
of these young people made the Olympic team and was part of a gold medal relay team while
also finaling in an individual event. My current position involves working with
ODAC's National group along with overseeing the entire program and staff. The club is one
of the most financially stable programs in the country due to its fundraising (bingo) and
parent support. The program has produced numerous National qualifiers, top 16
qualifiers, high school all-Americans along with many state and local champions. We
have been able to maintain our core of coaches over the past five years which has added to
our success along with retaining a large percentage of our families. Over the past four
years we have graduated over 45 swimmers from the program, most of whom had been with the
program their entire swimming career. I have spoken many times to local clubs and
organizations and feel that through my many years of coaching experience that I can
relate to a range of club needs and concerns whether they be from small or larger
organizations. The concepts and format that we use within ODAC can be tailored to
any club and the overall knowledge of the sport of swimming that I have can hopefully be
useful to all levels of programs.
