Biography:
Ernie Maglischo recently retired from active coaching after 35 years during which he coached at the college and age group levels.  His work in competitive swimming has continued, however, as author, lecturer and consultant.  In twenty-nine (29) years of college coaching his teams won 13 NCAA Division II Championships and 19 Conference Championships. His last position was as men's swimming coach at Arizona State University where his teams had three top ten finishes during his five year tenure and never placed lower than 14th nationally.  He was chosen PAC-10 men's swimming coach of the year in 1995.

Ernie has authored four textbooks on swimming and co-authored on text on nutrition for athletes.  His last publication was Swimming Even Faster, which is currently being revised.  Additionally, he has authored or co-authored over 47 periodical publications including reports of original biomechanical and physiological research.   He was the 1991 recipient of the National Collegiate and Scholastic Swimming Award, presented by the College Swimming Coaches Association.

His academic training includes a Ph.D. in Physical Education with an emphasis in Physiology of Exercise from Ohio State University, an M.S. degree from Bowling Green State University and a B.S.Ed degree from Ohio University.
